C H A N G E
When I started to think of topics I told my followers my next topic would be “support” but as I started to type I said..”no, your topic will be change, that’s the topic that’s the message”. So here it goes….
Change…the one thing that’s guaranteed to happen in our lives, whether it’s good or bad, we will all experience and witness change frequently or at some point! With my career I’ve learned to embrace change because I know it’s going to happen. Because of my awareness of constant change in the workplace I tend to handle it better than most people, because I know it’s going to happen, whether it’s good or bad. Having this concept of change at work has alleviated many attitudes, many “I quit moments”, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed you name it.
Although I’ve embraced change at work, it’s my personal life that sometimes takes me out. Changes in relationships, health, bills, you know the list! I would be lying if those changes didn’t take me to my knees asking God for help! I’m sure someone can relate….the question is how do we deal with it, how do we not allow change to break us, distort us or shift us?
Good change is good right? New relationship equates new love! New job means more money , maybe less workload! New friendship means new adventures and the list goes on. It’s the changes that isn’t so good that we struggle with.
I’m no therapist, pastor or advisor so anything I tell you comes from experience. How do I deal with change? First I pray on it, I don’t know your beliefs, but prayers has brought me from situations that I didn’t know how to get out of. Once I’ve prayed on it, I try to focus on what’s in my control and what’s out of my control. It may sound cliche, but believe me we often put way too much time into things we have no control of! Next, I embrace the change and figure out how to cope and live with it peacefully!
I’m currently going through a huge change in my life and boy have I struggled with it in the past! Now Im at a point I can’t escape it, I have to take on this change head on and deal with it. My cousin told me one day..take it one day at at time, don’t look at it futuristically, just take it one day at a time. For someone like me that’s a daunting task, because Im a overthinker and always planning two steps ahead of things. I took her advice and I can tell you, it’s working and it’s becoming easier and easier quicker than I thought.
So my advice to you, if you’re struggling with change, it’s okay! Take it one day at at time, one second at a time, whatever works for you, but meet it at the door and change it into a positive! Change is destined to happen it’s simply how do we deal with it!
Look life isn’t easy, but don’t take your journey alone. I’m 37 years old and I don’t have all that I desire materialistically, but I’m so rich in things that costs nothing! Every day someone asks me “how are you doing”?, my answer is the same “I’m doing great”! We are people of habit, a lot of times we simply say “great or good” because it’s common right! It’s rare that you ask someone this and they just honestly unpack all their negative feelings on you. I can actually say my answer is truly a reflection on how I truly feel. I wake up everyday feeling optimistic, unbothered, fearless and you name it. It took me a while to get here, but my heart simply putters with the beat of joy and peace! Seek peace it cost more than a Bentley, or a Birkin 😉 (I’ll take both of these one day) but it’s FREE don’t let that go over your heads!
Thank You!
